I attach a new version of the application form for those that have not already sent one in.  (no action needed for those that have already sent one.)  The new one gives the name of the account into which the money is to be paid.  Numbers were not enough.  The account name is East Down Yacht Club No1 account.  Giles put an effective  whatsapp group together for last years Brittany Rally inc crew, so if your crew wishes to be on the Whatsapp group please forward their number.   For those that have not yet e-mailed their photos please take a selfie and e-mail it to me.  I would plan to circulate them in advance  and also put the passport sized photos up in the club house so that we get to know each other.

Nearby outside catering venues max out at 60, I am advised we could do around 70 ish in the club 25% of which have already gone, so don't be shy about getting your applications in.

Some people have also expressed an interest in staying on in Ireland a while longer.  I am talking to Tom at Lough Erne Yacht Club on Lower Lough Erne about sailing our Wayfarers from LEYC the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (19 to 22 June ) after the EDYC Rally. Tom is currently with family in Surrey so has not had much time to come back to me.  I will be liaising with him next week. Depending on the weather there are a number of interesting places to visit, Devenish, Tully, Castle Archdale, Carrickreagh and the viewpoint.  I have attached a draft info sheet and if you are interested please respond with a % probability of you wanting to do these follow on sails.

I have not sailed this area before but cruise the area from time to time in our motor cruiser.  Most of my time on Lough Erne is on Upper Lough Erne where I keep my boat. I had looked at potential venues on the Upper lough but the sailing would not be as good.  I realise how fortunate we are to have Strangford 40 minutes one direction and Lough Erne 100 minutes the other direction. Lough Neagh between these two, the largest fresh water lake in the UK has a beauty of its own but does not compete with the other two.  Last summer when I was swimming in the upper lough the water temperature was an unbelievable 25 degrees C.

Not so warm yesterday when we were enjoying the winter sun.  Photo taken at EDYC slip looking east towards Island Taggart.

Apologies for bombarding you with more information.  The EDYC Wayfarers and other members of the club  look forward to hosting you in June.

Happy New Year.
