weekend, Parry Sound, Aug 5-6th

Greetings from Parry Sound, where the bay is open, Chich is varnished and we are thinking about getting on the water again. We are sending out this email since a few mentioned that they hadn't heard about it.

The Long Distance Race (LDR) is scheduled over the Civic Holiday weekend (August 5/6) with one day being the LDR and the other a family cruise sailing with picnic. More programme details below.

Parry Sound is a wonderful location for a fun and relaxing family weekend of sailing, waterfront trails, swimming off the beach as well as great restaurants and Civic Holiday weekend entertainment. Sail Parry Sound has offered support and secure overnight storage for approximately half a dozen boats? (first come first served) at their facility.

We are opening our house again to any guests who are wanting to stay at our place. There are also many nice B&Bs, or camping at Killbear or Oastler Park.

A tentative schedule:

- arrival in Parry Sound - storage available at Sail Parry Sound for arrivals only between 5pm and 7pm, please. Otherwise, bring boats to our place.

- potluck/BBQ at Sue and Steph's

- pack lunches for race/cruise day (weather determined)

- registration (nominal entry fee TBA)

- Skipper's meeting at 10amStart at 11am

- 2-3hr LDR around islands (about 10-15 NM)

- dinner at local restaurant

- cruising in the Sound (e.g. Killbear) for picnic lunch

- or LDR contingency day

You are welcome to come up early on Thursday or stay a couple of days at the end to enjoy the area and avoid cottage traffic to boot! If you choose to stay on, you can use our house as a staging point to come and go as you please.

We can offer several suggestions for other activities liking cycling, kayaking, hiking at Killbear, water taxi to Henry's Fish and Chips, etc. We have some water toys at our place... and live across from a lake.

Please RSVP if you are considering attending and haven't told us already. Thanks!

Best wishes

Sue and Steph
