Proposed List of Changes

DESCRIPTION OF CHANGES
YES
NO
REASON
  1. Replacing fixed Genoa jib fairleads with adjustable track type fairleads, and, or, replacing the jib tack strap cable with link chain.
To improve trimming of the jib sail foot and correction of leech flutter.
  • Installing NOVEX tension blocks or jib sheet winch
  •     To facilitate handling of jib sheets in heavy weather.
  • Removing oar lock bracket fittings and plugging up holes
  •     To eliminate taking in water through oar lock holes and to cut down unnecessary weight.
  • Installing Electric Boilers.
  •     To improve bailing after boat has capsized. Problems of motor or battery not operating consistently along with increased weight has no added advantages over fixed type self bailers.
  • Running of main sail sheet end pulley blocks from centre of boom to centreboard box or keelson in lieu of using traveller track to end of boom attachment fitting.
  •     To flatten mainsail and cut down possibility of capsizing due to tangled sheets. CWOA are against this change being allowed.
  • Installing full width transom track with adjustable stops in lieu of standard.
  •     To improve performance in all types of weather. Many other types of class boats competing in racing only are being fitted with full width tracks.
  • Adding additional pulley blocks along boom from the rear boom fixed swivel block along with jam or tension blocks and cleats.
  •     To facilitate handling of main sheet lines in heavy weather.
  • Installing fixed bow eye in nose of boat.
  •     To facilitate trailer winching or mooring. Present rules state that no equipment must protrude beyond the hull proper. Some owners have installed removable bow eyes in lieu of fixed type.
  • Installation of rubber strips around centreboard slot in keel.
  •     To avoid sand, gravel or weeds from jamming centreboard well when bleaching (ed. note: ha! ha!) boat. Also improves performance cutting down resistance. Present rules specify that no rubbers (hee hee!)must be fitted.
  • Rearrangement of toe hiking straps.
  •     Standard installation does not suit all crews’ or skippers’ requirements.
