Canadian Wayfarer Association
Chairman’s Message for 2007
The 2007 Racing & Cruising programs are now over, and highlights of these local and out of town regattas have been published by our News Editor, Al Schonborn, on the CWA Website. Most of the major events have turned out to be successful in spite of the variable turn-out of participants and unsettled weather conditions that sometimes affect attendance. To all the Clubs and Fleet Captains that arranged the hosting of our annual events we extend our sincere thanks, and look forward to enjoying their facilities again in 2008.

Al Schonborn will also be publishing the 2007 year's activities on a Yearbook DVD that will go to all CWA members. Our Racing & Cruising Program for 2008 has been pretty much finalized and is publicized on our web site at wayfarer-canada.org. Thanks to Al for his dedicated contribution to our Class Association operations.

Our CWA Committee is still active and hoping that a new design Wayfarer can be finalized for production by a builder in Canada or USA in 2008. In the meantime, every effort is being made to promote the sale of used Wayfarers.

A special  2008 wall Calendar marking the Wayfarer's 50th Anniversary has been sent out to all members of Wayfarer Class Associations. Tom Graefe (USWA) and Al (CWA) collaborated with UKWA Magazine editor, Ray Scragg, whose editing work has received rave reviews.

After a successful boat show in January 2007, the CWA will again be displaying a Mk III Wayfarer in the 2008 Toronto Boat Show to promote our Class Association activities. Our AGM will be held Jan.19, 2008 at TS&CC on the last Saturday of the Toronto Boat Show.

Thanks to all our Committee members who have been involved in carrying out the many tasks involved to run our programs both locally and out of town, including those dedicated members who attend most of our events to help maintain an active Class Association.

Best wishes and enjoyable sailing in the coming year.

Sincerely,

George T. Blanchard,   CWA Chairman & Honorary Commodore
