.....

Bronze Awards - for having participated in at least 20 W events - went to Ottawa's Lori Beehler ...
.....

... Al Nichols from Conestoga, and ...
.....

... Alastair Ryder-Turner of the Mississauga SC.
...

George Blanchard (l) presents the Gold Award (100+ events!!!) to Tom Wharton.
...

Also earning his Gold Level was John de Boer (l).
...

This year, our executive decided to re-dedicate the Lansdown-O'Brien Spittoon (inset). It will henceforth be awarded for "feats of unique seamanship". Above, we have the 2008 winner, Alastair Ryder-Turner going back to the 2008 North Americans and giving us a fine tale of spinnaker problems overcome. Unfortunately, we seemed jinxed in the trophy dept. this year: if the winner was present, the trophy was not - and vice versa. Hence the Spittoon inset!
...

Rob Wierdsma was the CWA's 2008 Rookie of the Year. But that trophy appears to have gone missing, so we had Rob pose with the Red Herring Award instead, which was in fact won by ...
...

... Vancouver's Nick Parker who this year almost single-handedly resuscitated the West Coast Wayfarer Fleet.
...

Another missing trophy was the Queen City YC tray
which goes to the Most Improved racer of the year and was won by ...
...

... Conestoga's Al Nichols who got to pose with Mike while clutching the Storer Trophy instead. Also earning serious Most Improved consideration were the team of Andrew Haill (Thunder Bay) and Lori Beehler (Ottawa).
...

The actual winner of the Storer Trophy (best aggregate score from the four major North American Wayfarer events)
was Uncle Al - the only Wayfarer to attend all four of the events. Unable to attend were Al's four great crews...
.....

Nick Seraphinoff who helped Al sweep the US Nationals held at Rock Hall in June
.....

... Dolores de Boer's daughter, Michele, who helped Al to take 2nd place
at the Canadian Nationals held at the end of June in North Bay ...
.....

... young Angus Wilson (13) who made his first Wayfarer experience a roaring success as he and Al tied
Frank Goulay and Kim Bergevin for victory in the Ontarios held as usual at the Lac Deschênes SC in mid-July, and ...
.....

... Dave Hansman (2nd from left) who helped Al get a share of the
North American championship with Heider Funck (r) and Tom Wharton.
.....

Andrew Haill, the 2007 winner of the Ted Davis Memorial Trophy (best log of the year),
brought the trophy and its lovely case from Thunder Bay but unfortunately ...
.....

... this year's winner, Jim Fraser of Nova Scotia, was unable to attend.
.....
Trudy Davis had the engraved Don Davis Memorial Trophy (years of exceptional service to the Wayfarer Class)
all set to present to ...
.....

... Dick Harrington, but inclement weather prevented Dick from attending. Above, you can see Dick,
sailing solo as he often does, in his beloved Blue Mist (W887) in very "clement" weather on the Chesapeake Bay.
