Island Race
There were 8 Wayfarers and maybe an
equal number of keelboats. The wind was light - maybe 5-6
knts. and so three of us went out singlehanded - Annelies
Groen and Ted Lacelle and me. The race was out to the Gibraltar
Point buoy and back - for both keelboats and W's - with a beat out and
a tight spinnaker reach back. The top 3 Wayfarers beat most of the
keelboats including the Dragon, which had started 6 minutes ahead!
I know the top 4 places but not beyond that. 1st - Tom Wharton & Heider Funck 2nd - Kit Wallace (singlehanded) 3rd - Hans Gottschling & Leo Savitsky 4th - Ivan & Charlotte Pedersen Ted Lacelle Annelies Groen Tim Bider & his 2 daughters Bob Stevenson & Jeff Hocking Neither John nor Mike
participated in the race so they won't know. I'll check with Brian
McLennan, who ran the race.
