For nearly 20
years,
Peter Fortune captained AirForce, his Express
27, near his home
in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Sailing with his wife,
Shirley, and son,
Perrin, they often raced as a family. Two months ago,
however, Peter
passed away. With the Bayview One Design Regatta
scheduled for May 31-
June 2 in Detroit, Perrin stepped in at the helm to
lead AirForce
to first place in their fleet. Perrin and his team
were deemed by the
OA to be the best
performing boat
and thus received recognition on the Bayview
One-Design Regatta
Perpetual Trophy for their overall
victory.
This years’s
winner, Air
Force, will receive a trip to stay at the AAA
four diamond rated Soaring
Eagle Casino.
The Grand Prize includes two nights, for up to 8
people in four
first-class rooms, with dinner at Isabella’s
on Friday night,
breakfast on Saturday morning with 18 holes of golf
with cart, 8
complimentary massages, Saturday evening dinner at Siinikaung
Steak
and Chophouse, and Sunday Breakfast. This
trip is valued at
over $4,000.
