Sunday race pics - 3
by Marc Bennett and Uncle Al
Stefan and Tom (r)
...

John (7351) and Kit (r) fight over 5th as they near the finish while Dave Platt (7218) and Peter Kozak (300) give chase.
...

Mark and Paul look good as they try to move into series second ahead of ...
...

... Alastair (10137) who is mounting a late charge to try and at least move past Hans and John (938) into 4th in race 6.
...

Mark (7673) appears to ...
...

... have second in race 6 locked up unless ...
...
... Stefan and Tom (600) can sneak in from the far left.
...
Stefan made it close but crossed 3rd behind Mark.
...

A protest in the making as Alastair (10137) is unaware that rule 18 (buoy room) applies even at ...
...

... a finish mark and will be DSQ for this contact with Hans who will take 4th. (Al's note: This protest was a pleasure to hear as both Alastair and John [representing W938 in the hearing] were entirely agreed on what had taken place - a first in my decades of hearing protests - and exemplified great sportsmanship. If a textbook were to be written on how the protesting parties should ideally conduct themselves, John and Alastair's conduct in this protest would be the model of perfection!! Thanks, gentlemen!!)
...

Kit (1037) luffs up to try to move past 5th-place John de Boer by ...
...
... taking his wind.
...
A good try but ...
...
... no cigar for Kit and David who were OCS in any case!
...

A close finish coming up among (l to r) Ivan, Peter with Michael right behind him, Mike Codd and Geoff as they are about to pass the start mark about 50 metres upwind of the finish mark.
...

Camera shake from the excitement here - sorry!! Meanwhile, Dave Platt coolly and cleverly stays low and out of the mess on the left on his way to ...
...

... a fine ...
...

... 6th place finish.
...

Doug (1366) will - successfully - try to pass Geoff to leeward.
...

A spectator boat??!!
...

Race 7 near the finish: The brothers Taylor (7673) mounted a late charge to ...
...

... pass Alastair (10137) right at the finish and confirm their series 2nd, and dropped Alastair into a tie for series 3rd with Stefan who will take a 5th in the finale behind ...
...

... John and Dolores de Boer.
