Having found a nice slant with lots of pressure, Mark (7673) and Dave H (282) head right towards clear air.

The two Conestoga boats, Al Nichols and Dwight Aplevich (l) keep going left, while Andy (6071) cuts across.
...

Right back on the rhumb line from the RC boat to the mark, we find Andrew, Mark (7673) and Dave H (282).
...

Alastair (10137) now comes across, but there is still no sign of Uncle Al coming in from the left.
Seems like he's gone dangerously far left. Has the rain soaked and short-circuited his brain??

Dave H has just crossed Andy.

Andy has tacked right into a big knock, poor guy!!

Looks like Mark (l) won't make it without two more tacks here. Andrew (3140) and Rob (7372)
are no doubt using Mark's heading to fine-tune their lay line tacks.

The first reach, past Wasi Falls, the club and Burfort Point has begun with John and Dolores in a narrow lead
over Frank (648) and Mark who will try to spinnaker through to leeward of Frank.

The next group finds Dave and Carol ahead of the closely bunched (l to r) Dave R, Rob and Ross.

Then it's Al Nichols followed by Alastair - and still no sign of Uncle Al.

The race for the lead heats up ...

Ah, there is Uncle Al at last and nearly last, having made a rare blunder: Instead of spending some of his early lead by tacking onto a slightly knocked port tack and thus making sure he was positioned between the main threats (like Mark!!!!) and the windward mark, Uncle Al held a lifted starboard tack too long and died in the left corner when the wind continued to veer instead of oscillating back. After what happened in race 3, that development should not have been unexpected, and at the very least, guarded against!! Silly me!! Luckily for me, I don't screw up like this too often!
