Uncle Al unveils the fine CL emblem that disguises his #1 Wayfarer mainsail.

New surroundings for Team 3854 as Uncle Al attempts to get comfy in the CL on the light-air Saturday morning out on the lovely St. Joseph Channel. With no little storage bags hanging down from the aft edge of the thwart to keep his smokes dry, Al has let Marc try the Red Green-approved method: duct tape the pack to the aft lower edge. This system held up for almost half of the first beat. Note also, the nice, thin (5 mm. softbraid) easy-running mainsheet with the low rise cleat that we brought with us from our Wayfarer - see http://www.wayfarerinternational.com/mainsheet.html  for more info.

Marc Bennett models one of the Doc Ford-related shirts "Weirdness only seems weird if you fight it" that we acquired on our Midwinters pilgrimage to Sanibel Island, home of Randy Wayne White's fictitious hero, Doc Ford - a series we heartily recommend to all thriller readers who enjoy interesting characters plus action plus Florida. Here, Marc has reacted to discovering that our continuous jib sheet from W3854 will be too short to accommodate a whisker pole by using our 5-mm painter as the starboard sheet and our other sheet for the port side and has tied them together with a pretty fancy knot to make the sheets continuous.
