Regatta Hilton Beach, August 12-13, 2006 Sunday ashore photos by Uncle Al |
The morning of the big
Hilton Beach Trophy race, we tried the Tilt'n
Hilton for breakfast. ... |
It was another
gorgeous summer day in Hilton Beach but ... ... |
... no sign of any ... ... |
... breeze! ... |
Sails are being raised
already, including a 1257 disguise for Three Gawthrop's
CL2767 who will try ancient racing sails today instead
of the coloured ones which are pretty but not really cut
for racing. ... |
Ah! An occasional
little streak of wind beyond the Marina where ... ... |
... Al's main was
raised before breakfast to let ... ... |
... the dew evaporate. ... |
The reflection does
not make things look any windier. ... |
Marc does some
last-minute fiddling. Note the duct-taped outboard jib
tracks for crew derriere protection. This shot also
shows the lengths to which Marc went to prevent the jib
sheets from snagging on the front of the benches. Red
Green would be proud! ... |
a sculpture in
dacron??? ... |
Becky gets set to
paddle her boat around to a front row mooring. ... |
Mrs. Kupers and her
charge ... |
Scott Glover is on
launch duty once again. ... |
Kim Wood is happy. ... |
Our mark layers are
all set to go. ... |
Kim Wood and Anne
Sylvester chat while Kipp makes a last adjustment or two
before heading out. ... |
Maurice Foster gets a
nice shot of his daughter, Peggy, in the morning light. ... |
They're ready to cast
off - as soon as ... ... |
... we get a shot of
the three of them: (l to r) Maurice, his son
Peter, and daughter Peggy ... |
Kipp Sylvester and ... ... |
... his wife, Anne,
are a study in concentration. ... |
Kirk Iredale (l)
and Mike Codd are set to drift on out. ... |
Aja: a smoke and a
coffee and a ... ... |
... beautiful smile!!
Who could ask for more??!! ... |
"Marc seems to be
waiting for a bus or something." This is how Steve Macklin saw it, as
Marc waited for Al to come and retrieve him, after Marc
had gone out on a couple of boats to try to tweak some
sail shapes before the day's races. Not much wind to
work with so far. |
