The Coach is a master of all trades!!

The Jaspers family has arrived: Ton (SWS cap, left) leads the Dutch contingent into the dinner line. Others from left to right: Thomas Anderson (Bo Christensen's crew), Anne-Lotte Jaspers, Giel Bloks, Conny  and Wouter Jaspers.

Ton's wife, Conny, and daughter, Anne-Lotte, are obviously happy to be in Farum!

This picture suggests that dining in Denmark is serious business.

Just time to stroll to the beach beside the club ...
..
... for a quick listen to some great jazz ...
..
... before the skies open up. But it takes more than a little rain to dampen Wayfarer spirits.
And chivalry is definitely not dead as Poul Ammentorp keeps Irene happy and dry ...

What a fine time ...
..
... not to be sailing!
..
A welcome bit of after-dinner music from Poul Ammentorp (left) and Elof Anderson.

Pretty good form ...

... after a long, hard day of racing!

The dark now hides the rain ...

... which has let up a bit.

And our Regatta Chairman is happy with the way things have gone so far - like the shark on his shirt.
It was shortly after this that Jesper's wife, Aida, left to cycle the 10 minutes back home. No sooner had Aida left, than the Coach came in and said: "I think it's going to rain." "Hell," replied Uncle Al, "it's been raining all night, Coach!" "No, Uncle Al, I mean it's really going to rain!!" At which time, the skies truly opened up with a downpour of Biblical proportions complete with thunder and lightning. When we got back to Jesper's a while later, there were some very wet Aida-type clothes in the drying room. But we had no time to waste on small stuff - Jesper, Aida, the Coach, Christian and I had to drink some Famous Grouse to toast other Canadian Wayfarers who would have loved to re-visit Denmark but couldn't make it this time: Tom Wharton, Frank Goulay and Marc Bennett. Unfortunately, Aida was still tired from Greenland and Christian from his Race Committee work, so that the Coach and Jesper and I had to do most of the work ourselves and it wasn't until after 3 a.m. that we finally laid the bottle to rest. And in that time, the Coach and I got some very illuminating insights into Jesper's misspent youth - many of these stories centering around life in a "Deux Chevaux" that was missing its body but was still a "babe magnet" as they sometimes say over here.. Aaaah, it was a fine night - much better than the morning after!
