Saturday afternoon - 1
photos by Henrik Rasmussen og Uncle Al
..
It's a wet and weary group that returns to FAS, the land of the free beer.
..
And still, the rain keeps pouring down...
... fuelled by a healthy easterly breeze.
..
Now that we are all more or less off Furesøen, the rain begins to let up...
..
... but not completely. There are, after all, still boats to be put away.
..
Disappointed and misguided Jazz Festival patrons are foolish enough to depart before the rain stops and the Wayfarer Stompers start. You have to love the rain gear that doesn't hide a fine cleavage, though.
..
But the racing day is not over until all the protests have been submitted (Søren Jonasen busy writing above) ...
..
... and all the results tabulated by the Committee.
..
Only minutes later, Steen Ammentorp is transformed from wet, tired, beerless crew to handsome, vibrant concert goer -
ready to see and hear the world-famous Wayfarer Stompers next door with his lovely date, Kristine.
..
On the left, you'll see a guy who is fortunate enough to resemble Uncle Al - I certainly thought it was me at first,
but then I remembered I was still in my wet clothes and in the free beer line at this time.
..
Susanne, who has been feeding us all weekend, looks happy to get a break
as everyone will be off to the restaurant upstairs for the "festmiddag" (banquet) tonight.
As the Wayfarer Stompers prepare for their set in the Jazz Festival,
the lovely representative from the Jyske Bank takes the stage to present...
..
... Arne Stahlfest and Farum Sejlklub with a check for DKK 10.000 to cover the cost of a new launch ramp dock
which has already been put to good use by all of us and will be called the Jyske Bro in honour of the sponsor.
..
After Arne and the bank lady went to all the trouble of posing and smiling beautifully,
Uncle Al('s camera?) screwed up and did not focus!
..
Vibeke Stahlfest was not able to sail with Arne on this weekend
but she was fortunately well enough to come and enjoy the Stompers...
..
... and even take a few pictures.
..
A lot of Wayfarers in this crowd of jazz enthusiasts.
..
The Stompers must have connections "on high" because the rain has finally stopped.
..
Helle Emsvang (left) and Mogens Just chat with Søren and Lise Jonasen.
..
While Helle just enjoys the concert, Mogens has that fierce look of concentration he must have out on the water.
..
Mine damen og herrer? The Wayfarer Stompers!!
(l to r) Jørgen Vekslund, Poul Ammentorp, Elof Anderson og Joel Bøgh.
..
And to think that these four fine musicians were out racing wet Wayfarers only an hour or two ago!!
..
Loved by fans of every age!
..
A solo moment for Poul...
..
... and then Elof.
..
Jørgen's turn coming up
..
And last - but definitely not least - Joel!
..
And the fans loved it! Especially Aida Friis (clapping) and Regatta Chairman, Jesper Friis, behind her. I don't know the silver-haired lady on the right but there are three "band wives" behind her, looking on proudly: (l to r) Aase Bøgh, Irene Ammentorp and Karen Andersen - and behind Irene, we have that Flying Dutchman, Ton Jaspers.
