Hi Al!
Did you 'attend' the Mayor's Cup or Bayview? Thought you'd like a report on last weekend's June Bug Regatta - Sue's phone has a couple photos which I'll send along later today, hopefully.  See you soon! Steph

June Bug Regatta, Lake Fanshawe – June 7-8th, 2014

It was a bit strange to be at Fanshawe YC this time of year, as we’ve only ever sailed the Pumpkin here – I was surprised that it was not more attended as it is a great lake, and the volunteers always do such a great job hosting and feeding us. If we knew it would not be well attended, we would’ve promoted it more. Regardless, it was good to get Chich out of the garage and back into the water for the 1st time in 2014.

It was mostly drifter conditions for the 3 races on day 1 and on day 2, light air continued until the last race (6th) when the wind was consistent both in strength and direction (odd for Fanshawe). Unfortunately, Sue and I opted out of that race due to distance to travel and an impending thunderstorm which ended up only skirting the lake with no trouble. Oh well.

We were in a good position to place well in this regatta because depending on how you looked at it, you could say... “We’ll either come first or last!”  “We’ll be on the podium!”  or “The worst we could do is 2nd!” Locals, Vera and Jeff, in 7220 joined us to make our ‘fleet.’ We started with the Lasers and had fun trying to beat them, almost doing so in two races. It was the Biscaborn sons battling at the front, with Jens  (Dad) and Rick Goldt never out of the running.

Looking forward to seeing everyone for the Ontarios!
