Mark and Paul Taylor round onto the final short beat to the finish with a comfortable lead, one that will only increase as the beating W7673 will have a far better apparent wind, until the running boats reach the mark.

Our first real screw-up of the weekend was ...

... a spi halyard knot that Al left to Colin to untangle. The latter made admirably quick work of the problem,

... still pinch up over Kit (2nd from right). Geoff (9483) meanwhile, has re-taken 4th from Gary (2679)
who had passed him just moments ago.

Kit (l) has tacked back to port to play it safe while Stuart (sailing single-handed) is off to the left on starboard.
Colin has just rounded, about two boatlengths ahead of Rod.

While Gary and Colin (r) come in from the far right, the is some excitement brewing ...

... closer to the line: Stuart starboards Rob and crosses, but Rob has a better angle to the finish line. As the next few shots will show, Stuart might well have done better to tack close aboard Rob and lee bow him, given that port was allowing boats to cross at the better angle to the line (i.e. the RC boat end was favoured), and given that Rob was laying the finish line. Instead, Stuart crossed and then tacked ...

... leaving himself lee bowed and astern of Rob who ...

... easily lays the line (which means Stuart would have as well, had he tacked to leeward and off Rob's bow). As it is, Stuart has given a 5th to Rob and may well lose Gary, too, as the latter comes rushing up on starboard. It'll be close - I can still hear Gary yelling "Starboard!!", but ...
