Dangerously deceptive: Rookie mariners are often fooled by how benign things look from a windward shore, but it's a dangerous day out there! Last night's cold front brought strong off-shore winds that have been blowing Lake Ontario's warmer surface water towards Rochester all night, water that is quickly replaced from the frigid maximum 800-foot depths of the lake - water that will be under 10° C even at the surface by now. Pretty much instant hypothermia for anyone without protective gear.

But without the zoom, it doesn't look like much, does it? Be that as it may, tomorrow's forecast calls for diminishing winds and warmer temperatures, so everyone agreed that today could be better spent doing other things, and the RC would try for an 0930 hrs start and try for five short races on Sunday.

... will be sailing SHADES this weekend. Is that a Blue I see before me?? Not everyone would see this as the ideal beer-swilling weather, but Julie's dad, Nick (W864), has brought her up right!! Besides, those Michiganders never waste a chance to drink that great Canadian beer!!
