the
2006 Wayfarer Midwinters East Lake Eustis SC, Eustis, FL * Feb. 3-5 pre-Midwinters fun - 4 (Key West 2) photos by Marc Bennett and Uncle Al |
Things looked every
bit as good Wednesday morning by the ... ... |
... light of the
rising sun. ... |
To get back to Eustis
by Thursday around mid-day, we had to leave Key West by not much after noon today. So we did our sailor's duty and headed down ... ... |
... to the harbour. ... |
At least one sentry
was on duty. ... |
A busy spot! ... |
And Turtle Kraals
was just the place for a good morning cup of coffee. ... |
The Crabby Crew, who
will helm this weekend but refused to lend me his shirt,
joins those ... ... |
... taking pictures. ... |
Ah! Indeed, it was ... ... |
... a lovely ... ... |
... sight on this
winter's morning. ... |
Key West even has a
"campus" of the J School. ... |
A bit to the east of
the marina, things are ... ... |
... a tad less
crowded. ... |
Suckers for a good
name that we are, we went in search of The Hogs'
Breath Saloon which turned out to be right near
... ... |
... this interesting
building. ... |
At the Hog's
Breath, we enjoyed their surprisingly good house
brand of beer in their lovely open-air bar where Marc discovered a promo for Appleton Estates Rum to which his family is somehow connected. ... |
Alas,
the license plates reminded us we still had long day's
drive back to Eustis ahead of us. After three enjoyable
hours and a lovely waterside lunch while traversing the
Keys, we slogged our way past Miami and its urban
sprawl. It was well after dark by the time we bedded
down in Fort Myers, only a couple of hours from Eustis
where we now hoped not to be useless! |
