It was a lovely sight as ...
...

... the fleets came in after the three Sunday races.
...

The winds were now starting to pipe up towards Saturday's levels, and Mike and Steve Anspach handled ...
...

... a challenging gybe near the docks very nicely.

Awards: 3rd place in the Two-Sail Fleet went to Jim Lingeman (r) and Mike Tighe who shared the helming.
...

Second place went to the father/son team of Peter and Peter Hylen.
...

Non-Spinnaker champions: Eddy Kraft (r) and Bob Francis
...

3rd overall: Butch Minson and his sister, Ellen Hill
...

Mike Murto (r) introduces the 2nd-place finishers: Joe De Brincat and his son, Brian (l)
...

Congratulations to the 2006 Midwinters champions: Marc Bennett and Michele Parish!
...

USWA Commodore, Mike Anspach and son, Steve, were awarded the first of three special Wayfarer tote bags again donated by our fine covermaker, Hans Gottschling. Steve and Mike finished last among the boats completing all three races, but this is misleading since they actually placed 10th of 17 entries.
...

Also rewarded was our fine PRO, Dave Williams. Thanks again, Dave and Joan!
The third bag went to Dotty Murto, our Regatta Chairman, whose attempt at a smile was not suitable for publication.

And then Dad Mike gets into the act.

Monday: By the time we had finished the draft beer in the club on Sunday, cold, cold winds were really howling. So Marc and I decided to postpone boat pack-up in hopes that Monday morning would be more benign. It was ...
...

... indeed!!!
...

W2458 awaits ...
...

... the Heffernans who were the last to strike their tent.
...

No wonder Jim and Linda look so happy - they are now off for a week's kayaking in the Keys!!
...

This picture was, one hopes, not taken at the club!
...

In due course, SHADES was packed up and road-ready. This year we were smart enough to do the mast's winter wrap in the lovely 70F sunshine at Lake Eustis rather than putting it off until we were back in the frozen North!
...

Before heading for home, we helped Nick dis-mast his FD and returned the favour by ...
...

... taking our picture while we were still warm!!
...

While driving through Georgia late in the afternoon, we passed this vehicle being towed behind a U-Haul(?) truck. The picture doesn't show it, but get-up was moving at 65 mph. They sure have more nerve than I would!! In the end, we made our hoped-for destination of Chattanooga before dark, even after starting from Eustis not much before noon! Except for rain around Atlanta, we again were blessed with perfect driving weather and were an hour east of Windsor by the time ...
...

... we pulled over to prove that we had indeed come back to winter. Marc and ...
...

... Al are ...
...

... feeling ...
...

... the cold!
...

Cold but very pretty!! (We were in fact back in Oakville by 7:30 PM!)
