While Jim Best undoes some of the travelling ties, his wife, Cynthia, has gotten right to the heart of the matter:
the keg has been tapped and the beer is cold and free ...
...

... and delicious, juding by Tony's face.
...

The beauty about it being a practice day is that there is no rush and Al stops frequently to sip his beer and savour the warm weather.
...

Butch and Janice Minson (l) arrive from Maine and will sail his sister, Ellen Hill's blue Wayfarer that is based at the LESC.
...

To save Tony the hassle of trying to see out the back of his fully loaded truck to back the boat and trailer in, Al has a better idea:
...

launch by hand with wheel blocks ...
...

... positioned to stop the tires at the water's edge. With the Pamco tilt-bed trailer, this ...
...

... works like a dream.

Almost set to cast off. Oops! Forgot the ...
...

... rudder. This illustrates why Uncle Al (almost) always attaches the rudder (but never the tiller!) before hoisting the main.
...

Done and off at last. It occurs to me that Mary got a great shot of the SHADES interior here that, used at full size will come in handy
when I am trying to illustrate answers to questions about my rigging. Will put this on my desktop where I hope I won't forget it!!
