As Alastair bears away to avoid Hans' transom, we can see the two leaders, Mark (r) and Heider heading right, something that rarely pays when the wind is in this direction! And on the left, we see Tommy close-reaching towards the mark.

On the left, Ed (port) has to luff up to keep clear of Al (starboard). Meantime, full marks to Tommy and Stefan (60) who have passed a few boats while (despite???) tacking downwind. for full-size pic, click here; then use Back button to return to this page

The race committee guys had a front row seat for some exciting downwind finishes: Mark and Paul Taylor just had too much upwind speed for the rest of us, and easily held on to win. But an exciting battle down the final run saw Al and Marc come from behind to take 2nd away from Heider and Tom just before the finish. Alas, none of these finishes were captured in pixels for posterity by our otherwise excellent photographers.
