"We the North" won their first ever NBA championship, another "We the North" - Michigan and Ontario - took the top two Wayfarer spots in the Eastern Wayfarer Championships. The event was part of the 62nd North Carolina Governor's Cup Regatta hosted by the Carolina SC on the lovely, large waters of Kerr Lake which straddles the border between eastern Virginia and North Carolina. Taking the Eastern title in a five races sailed in lovely hiking breezes and warm sunshine, were Oakville, Ontario's David and Anne Pugh, who withstood a spirited challenge from East Lansing, Michigan's Marc Bennett and wife, Julie. Series 3rd in the 12-boat Wayfarer fleet went to Uwe Heine and his wife, Nancy, of Lake Townsend on a tie-breaker over Jim Cook and Cathy Leonard.
