Successful racing re-union for Julia and Uncle Al in Long Distance Race  2023.07.30  Our annual National Long Distance Race attracted a fine fleet of 14 Wayfarers and one GP14 to the St. Lawrence River off Wellesley Island on Tuesday 25 July 2023. In warm sunshine and light winds with frequent puffs, Uncle Al and wife, Julia (above), took a substantial lead on the first westerly beat to Abercrombie Island (below), betting on less adverse current near the island shore. Then, down wind and down current plus another shorter sausage (below), they held off Cleveland's Tony Krauss with wife, Mary, who edged out North Carolinians, Uwe Heine and wife, Nancy Collins. a work in progress
