Henry (3125)  is well placed here as both Dave (4782) and Geoff (blue & white spi)
will have to give him room at the leeward mark unless they can pull ahead.
...

Andy Douma lets crew, Joan, limit herself to ...
...

... being movable ballast.
...

Michael and Kate (high spi) are about to gybe for the leeward mark - this fly-away spi doesn't happen if you use the "balls system" (properly. Dave Hansman looks like he'll beat everyone in  this pic to the mark - except Fred (l) who is about to round the leeward mark, having lost at least ...   - click here for full-size pic
...

... Dwight (l) and Marc. Note Uncle Al actually hiking and making sure he will observe any tack by Dwight.
...

Fred has tacked away and Marc (3854) is thinking about it
- perhaps another half a minute or so to see if the Lord won't give us a lift that would get us out of Dwight's backwind?
...

Sue Pilling and Steph Romaniuk have Mystic moving right along as they pass the RC boat half way up the second beat.
...

John and Dolores roll in from the left side, looking good.
...

On the right side lay line, we find Dave (282) and Andrew.
...

Dave and Kim stay near the middle as they cross behind Fred (l) and Ross. More vang and/or mainsheet tension would give more
mast bend and help alleviate the mainsail backwinding. Or perhaps ease the jib sheet a half an inch??   - click here for full-size pic
...

The second run: Dwight has, if anything, increased his lead of 2nd-place Marc who is, however, still "defending" the left side
of the run - using the SHADES "default strategy" for a buoys-to-port run, when no good reason to do anything else is apparent.
...

On their way to 3rd are John and Dolores, while ...
...

... Dwight and Pat (4606) will make no mistakes in holding first over ...
...

... Marc and Al (3854).
...

Tony and Mary, despite lack of spinnaker, are strategically well placed in this hull-speed weather - inside for the mark and on starboard  tack converging with the outside boats. Dave (282) has made some inroads after his slow start and may be poised to pass Sue and/or Fred (l) before the leeward mark?
...

Tony (l) will indeed hold on to finish 4th ahead of Sue (4677) while Fred (7379) will drop behind not only Sue but also ...
...

... Dave Hansman.
...

This close to the leeward mark, Fred (7379) should have defended the "inside" and his wind as Sue (4677) came up from astern.
...

A close battle of the spinnaker-less: (l to r) Michael, Jason and Geoff
...

Ross Jamieson with Breanne who is finding that the jib does not wish to wing.
