Nearing the finish at the McNutts', Dave looks happy that this race is done, while most of us still sit ...
...

... becalmed off Garbage Island. Pat and Fred cross Lori and Mary who then ...
...

... take matters into their own hands.
...

With Garbage Island nearly behind us, Sue and Al drift along.
...

And of course, Al had to get a shot of a Wayfarer (Andrew) typically becalmed in the lee of that infamous island.
...

Almost at the finish line, the Hansmans can look back at a breeze filling in, and ...
...

... look ahead at where John and Dolores are about to edge them out of first place.
...

Somewhat later: No doubt having helped himself to a well-earned beer, Dave returns to the
beach at the McNutts', as more boats begin to straggle in - at least one, courtesy of a tow.
...

The Chick Boat arrives among the leaders but had to resort to paddling to arrive before ...
...

... their "hated" rivals, Tony and Jason (white deck).
Walter, meanwhile, completes his tow with a couple of judicious paddle strokes.
...

Rewarded for their paddle-less patience, Julia and Al get a lovely puff to ride into the finish line in 5th place.
...

A beautiful scene that goes all the way back to the early 60's is re-enacted for 2007.
...

The finish dock is a fine place to relax: (l to r) John de Boer, Mitchell Martyn who has finished his golf lesson, and Dave.
...

Race-winner, John de Boer, enjoys the moment in comfort and style, as does ...
...

2nd-place finisher, Dave Hansman, who leaps up to give his seat to a senior citizen ...
...

... Uncle Al (l).
...

Ah! Now we have the entire winning team: John and Dolores de Boer!
...

Meanwhile, Andrew (l) and Sue whom we last saw off Garbage Island ...
...

... have finally picked up the new breeze, and are about to have ...
...

... a very close finish, with Andrew and Michele (9657) just beating out Sue.
...
And I do mean Sue. I believe that somewhere out there, crew Nicole who had another engagement?
got herself a motor boat ride to shore, leaving Sue to do ...
...
... her take-off on Frank Dye. No beard, though!
...

It's still anybody's race but ...
...

... Andrew and Michele turn for the beach first and get an 8th ahead of ...
...

... Sue, even though they sail the last bit ...
...
... under jib alone. A couple more engine-assisted finishers, John Simmonds and Mike Jeffery, have succumbed to the ...
...
... lure of the beer!!
...

W3125 comes into the finish area as Henry, Klaus and Jacob roll in on a nice breeze ...
...

... past the well-moored ...
...
... SHADES to complete our list of unassisted finishers.
...

That last missing touch that the McNutt beach was lacking!!
...

While some lunched down at the docks, most of us ...
