the
2008 North Bay Wayfarer Weekend Long Distance Race pics - 5 photos by Cathy Jessup, Julia & Al Schonborn ... |
Now we are back into the
Main
Channel, where this year ... ... |
... the wind held up
amazingly
well. Here John and Dolores, who gained a lot on the run,
pursue Dave
and Carol. ... |
Also making a big move are
Sue
and Steph (l)
who have nearly
caught Dave and Kim and who may yet ... ... |
... catch Ross and John (yellow spi. ... |
(l
to r) John, Dave R, Sue, Ross, Dave H. - Five
boats in hot
pursuit of ... ... |
... Julia and Al as they
... ... |
... cross Callander Bay
towards
mark #2 where they will begin a sort of mini-triangle that
will
complete the race where it started. ... |
We were indeed a lovely
sight,
crossing the Bay under spinnaker. - for full-size pic, click here ... |
John (2nd from left) and
Sue (r) continue
to move very well and
are now fighting it out for 3rd place. - for full-size pic, click here ... |
After a beat from #2 to #1,
Dave
and Carol are pressed to lay #3 while carrying the chute,
as are ... ... |
... the rest of us. - for full-size pic, click here ... |
Al and Julia cross the
finish
line in first place, determined to do so in style, i.e.
flying the
chute. ... |
2nd place goes to Dave and
Carol, followed by ... ... |
... John and Dolores. ... |
Sue and Steph have rescued
a
fine 4th after being way, way back early in the race. ... |
A very creditable 5th for
Ross
and John in one of the club boats, a 5th that made them
the race's Most
Improved crew. ... |
6th place for David and Kim
who
had to be disappointed after they had been 3rd and near
the lead halfway through the race but who nonetheless got in lots of useful spinnaker practice!! ... |
Since our young lads,
Taylor and
Ryan, dropped out early, citing gear failure, Lori and
Andrew were left
to complete the procession. |
