Al,
I sent the bullet points below, from the OBD
regatta, to Jerry Thompson for The Beat so
he could put together an article. Maybe you
could use some of these for your article.

To:
Jerry,
Some points
about the
regatta
- Most
folks camped
in 33ºF
temperatures
Friday and
Saturday
nights, with
highs in the
60's during
the day.
- Over
the 6
total races,
there were 5
different
1st-place
skippers.
- Several
races had
multiple
general
recalls due to
aggressive
starting. One
race I think
had 3 general
recalls.
- In
one race it
was the first
time I have
seen all 11
boats start on
port (below).
- Light
winds
Saturday. Winds
were very
spotty and
shifty. At one
point I could
look out and
see seven
different
round puffs
across the
course.
- Sunday
was more wind
but still a
bit shifty.
- In
one race I
could see
three boats
side by side
within 50 ft.
of each other
and the middle
boat had wind
and the other
two had far
less to none.
That middle
boat came from
behind in that
middle wind to
finish ahead
of the other
two by about a
boat length.
- The
RC takes a
45-minute
break in the
middle of the
day on
Saturday for
sailors to eat
lunch on the
water or sail
in for a
bathroom
break; then
pick up race
again after
the break. I
like that.
- Dinner
Saturday night
was make your
own Naan bread
pizzas with
all the
fixings, then
cooked on the
grill by Jim
Cook.
- After
dinner we had
Karaoke
singing, solo
and group,
with music and
Jim Higgins on
live guitar,
then dancing
began, and a
fire in the
fireplace in
the clubhouse.
- Racing
was very
competitive
with several
tie breakers.
- Nice
fold up camp
tables with
the Wayfarer
logo on them
were handed
out for the
1-3 spots,
plus Wayfarer
canvas tote
bags, specially
made by Hans
Gottschling,
were handed
out to some
folks for most
improved
Wayfarer
sailor for
2019, and for
a special
dance routine
by George
Enell.
- Always
a great
regatta and
social time.
