..

And they're off down the reach.
...

Jamie and Ben (r) have their beautiful spinnaker flawlessly trimmed.
...

Making the most of what little they've got in the way of sail power, Robin and Carolyn have W6071 perfectly balanced.
...

Carolyn gives it that extra effort by holding the jib sheet out where it'll do more good than ...
...

... being sheeted from the jib sheet track.
...

But eventually, even the whisker pole won't be enough to hold off the Abbotts.
...

Don't let your sailmaker see this, boys! Pole down! And I'm sure this spi is overtrimmed!!
...

This is what you want!!
...

Looking good!
...

Alan (7346) now has his spinnaker flying properly as he and Jamie pace each other.
...

As do Brian (l) and ...
...

... Andrew.
...

With the wind pretty far aft, this is a perfect time for Andrew and Phil (4610) to try and get past Brian to leeward.
...

First around the gybe mark, Al likely won't be able to fly the chute without the pole here since the wind has veered and made this second reach ...
...
... a closer one.
...
Dave (r) is another in a long line of victims who have fallen to Buttercup's downwind speed over the years.
...

Note how the first "reach" has become almost a run, as Bill gets set ...
...

... to ...
...
... gybe ...
...
... inside of ...
...

... Dave.
...

Busy times for the crews. Meanwhile, Dave (282) should help Carol by either pulling on the starboard sheet or by bearing away before his chute fills on the wrong side and ends up between his forestay and his mast!! The wind gods have so far given Dave a reprieve and he should get the chute around while the getting is good!!
...

Too ...
...

... late! The spinnaker has filled ...
...

... in a way!!
