Aah! This is a picture that illustrates flawlessly, why the crew aboard our boat briefly cranks the jib in board tight in order to get the windward spi sheet out from under the jib foot. Anyway, here are Jason and Lori, in the process of ...
...

... hoisting their chute.
...

Robin and Carolyn begin their run.
...

Al and Marc start ...
...

... their final short beat to the finish in a nice little breeze.
...

Reverse angle view as Al and Marc complete a roll tack.
...

Note again, how Al is placing himself between his nearest opponents and the finish line upwind, as Bill (yellow spi) and Dave (282) ...
...

... approach the leeward mark just about ...
...

... dead even. Note that Al has tacked again and should be just about straight upwind from Dave and Bill when they round.
...

As the spinnakers come down, Al tacks to cross the finish line.
...

Dave has the vital inside position here but is ...
...

... a bit slow rounding up. Only one hope for Bill (937) here, and that is ...
...

... to ...
...

... tack. Dave's lead is too small here to be able to cover, but he shouldn't let Bill get too far away here. Dave should probably tack in another four boatlengths or so, in order to make sure that he ends up sailing in the same wind as Bill.
...
Bill is off towards the left after a nice tack.
...

Bill flawlessly finishes at the favoured leeward (pin) end to grab 2nd ahead of ...
...

... Dave (282) who did his best but couldn't quite manage to ...
...

... hold off Team Buttercup.
...

Fine form for Team Banshee as they nail down a solid 3rd in both the race and the series, which will easily make Dave and Carol Hansman our Most Improved team of the 2006 Ontarios. Congratulations, Carol and Dave!
...

After the second-reach spinnaker debacle, Alan and Tim (7346) have opted for ...
...

... a less exciting run.
...

Meanwhile, down near the leeward mark, three boats, Andrew (4610), Brian (6082) and Jamie are fighting over 4th.
...

A few minutes later, Jason rounds onto the final beat while Robin (6071) continues to enjoy his run.
...

Nearing the finish, Brian is (wisely) determined to ensure that Jamie (4594) doesn't get away, and tacks to cover - an absolute must here!
