choice for Brad since a recent shift has favoured starboard tack. Were
port still favoured, Brad would have been wiser to bear away and remain
on the favoured tack, especially since a tack to starboard would leave
him pinned at Jacob's mercy for some time on the tack that would be
unfavoured.
