It's a simple case of opposite tacks here. Sue Goldt (3434) is on starboard while Kevin Rheault and Nathalie Chaput (2581) are on port. Kevin must keep clear but Sue is also burdened to the extent that she must not alter course in a way that prevents Kevin from keeping clear (Rule 16). Thus, even if Sue gets a huge knock, she cannot bear away if by doing so, she puts Kevin in a position in which he is no longer able to keep clear.
