Cliff-top views all the way for this 6th and final race. Just after the W start, Jeff and Vera have Bloody Thing moving very nicely!
...

Also duelling it out under cliff are Sue (4677) and John (7351), while Hannah Waitschies (170109) seems to have gotten a horribly late Radial start. Luckily for her, only two Radials remain out here racing, and her 2nd in this race will be enough to give her a points tie with Sue Goldt, and the tie-breaker will go to Hannah and her three firsts.

Steve Dietrich takes The Hound for one last Pumpkin "walk".

Roy and Bobby in their patented relaxed mode
...

Note how nicely balanced Jon's helm is due to his windward heel downwind - no sign of rudder turbulence at all!
...

Four of the remaining eight W's have rounded onto the run of a windward-leeward.

...

No mistakes at the windward mark for Mike and Kirk this time around and they are in the lead.
Following Mike at this time are John, Sue and Dwight
...

Len and Andy put in the rest of their beat while Sue and Steph deal with an unexpected gybe.
...

Winning form for Messrs. Codd and Iredale! Well done, guys!!
...

John and Dolores motor right along, but ...
...

... Sue's accidental gybe is about to become a brilliant move: she ends up ...
...

... going closer to the cliff where the wind from this direction frequently funnels.
By the time John (7351) realizes that his spinny isn't doing much, and wants to ...
...

... gybe, it may well be too late, even given Mystic's evident spinnaker ...
...

... troubles.
...

Escorted by Hannah in her Radial, we have ...
...

... (r to l) Jens, Dave, Len and Jeff. Hard to believe that Jens and Sharon came back from such a hole to place 3rd in this, the final race!!
...

Though things looked grim for a bit, being under the cliff will now pay off for Sue and Steph (4677), as the carry their nice puff into ...
...

... the lead. But perhaps Mike is closer to the rhumb line. Regardless, Mike ended up taking the first-place beep, with Sue taking 2nd.
...

Is this Jens (r) beginning to make his move?
...

No. Not yet! Here, indeed, he appears to have fallen into last place,
as Jeff (7220), Dave (4782) and Len (6732) have not only passed Jens but are also threatening Dwight (4606)!!
...

Shhhhh! They're coming closer!!! In the end, Dave and Kim (4782) did pass Dwight to place 5th, their best result of the series!
...

And we have one last, very nice shot of Doug Carey enjoying his Hobie as the Pumpkin (and the 2008 sailing season) come to a close.
