And then, Tom and Diane, and most of
the rest of us were off around the north end of
Woods Island, headed for ... |
|
... a lunch stop in North Hero. While
Tom reaches back and forth in a nice breeze, Jake
awaits his share of the wind. |
|
In the chart above, the green track
represents the detour made by Al and Lucy, so that
they could pick up Frank. The latter was sailing
back to Burton with the Peglers who didn't want to
overtax their kids with the longer sail to North
Hero and back. At the marina, we quickly took a
bearing on North Hero from the chart above - we'd
have to pass just south of Knight Island and then
turn north about 5°, and that should land us right
at lunch. With a nice 10 - 15 knots of SW breeze,
it would be a close spinnaker reach to Knight
Island. And let's face it, Lucy, Frank and I had
some catching up to, so the chute was called for. ... |

Frank (r) gets a hero's

Above the dock, there was a lovely
little enclosed area, where you could enjoyably
consume the victuals ... |

Welcome across the street. Still no sign of
any other W's after half an hour, so we hoisted the sails and started
back towards Burton Island. |

As we were exiting the bay, the first
of the other group, Team Wallace (1037) came
around ... |

... Hibbard Point. But we had
eaten once already, so Frank, Lucy and I decided
to keep sailing and head on back to camp (and wine
and beer) while the winds were still good!! |

Back at our camp site, Chef Rachel

Nothing but elegance when you dine
out with Uncle Al who ... |

... later modelled his evening
(anti-bug) wear. |
|
Al had to switch sites after Thursday
night, and Kit and Frank kindly invited him to
share their site not far up the path. Laziness prevailed: Al and Frank
emptied Al's tent and carried it - fully erected,
so to speak - to its new location in what was ... |
|
... becoming a mini-village. |
