A last gasp of

West Dune Beach and

Still, the occasional

This reminds me that
Tom
has yet to send me his pictures!! ... |
For most of the group,
the
fine restaurant dinner was ... ... |
... a real treat,
coming as
it did, after a week of do-it-yourself camp cooking. ... |
Uncle Al checks out
the
"Smoking Lounge" as darkness falls and the flash is
needed to
illuminate his favourite shirt, a ... ... |
... birthday present
from
daughter, Joanna, that could be interpreted to read: "I
don't give a
mouse's donkey." I can't say that I disagree with my
daughter's
assessment of dad's attitude. Meanwhile ... ... |
... Chuck's dinner has
arrived (behind Al's now salt-stained Wayfarer cap).
Chuck seems to
have high hopes for his meal, as ... ... |
... does
Ginny for her chowder. The restaurant evening that
brings us all
together late in the Rally is, for me, one of its
highlights each year.
We're invariably a lovely and lovable group. Again
this year, we all
had a great time, as Tim and Alan had done a fine job
in choosing the
excellent restaurant. Even getting back to Hermit
Island was
interesting, since this was the night of the full
moon, when high tide
-
around 10 p.m. - would be a spring tide that
reportedly would cover the
road across the Neck between Hermit Island and the
mainland. I
for one, drove quite sedately through the nearly a
foot of salt water
that was covering the road when Julia and I returned.
Fun stuff!!
