Uncle Al's Scrap Book: Saturday, the 20th
pics by Julia and Al Schonborn

The SHADES gang: (l to r) Chuck and Ginny Jordan (W767), Julia and Al Schonborn (W3854) get set to have one more farewell breakfast at Percy's.

We've already checked out at Hermit Island and ...

... the boats are ready to travel.

Our cook at Percy's had her usual smile for us.

Portrait of a Rally T-shirt with Uncle Al attached. We took off right after breakfast, had a (fairly) quick stop at L.L. Bean in Freeport to buy some water shoes recommended by Alan Asselstine, and then hit the road and intermittent rain plus endless delays at toll booths (the only bad part of this whole week!). By late afternoon, Julia and I had reached our planned overnight stopping point in Utica, NY. The tourist brochure we had picked up on the way down promised a room for only $80 in the ...

And it certainly is ...

Al,

Thanks again to you and Julia. It was great to meet and spend such pleasant times with you both.   Ginny and I really enjoyed the cruise and look
forward to seeing you again.

We stopped off at Mississauga on Sunday morning and got some helpful tips from Hans. Mrs. Hans offered us "lunch" and then made a veritable feast for us. (Could you let me know the correct spelling of her given name so we can send a thank-you card?)

All the best,

Chuck

Hi, Chuck: It surely was a glorious time. What marvellous luck for Julia and me, that we met such great kindred spirits. We, too, look forward to spending more time with you. I've been meaning to email you and thank you for the great times, but have been seriously busy with web work, the CL regatta and editing and choosing from among the 600 Maine pics on my digital cards - have just reached day three (Seguin Island and Bold Dick) and its 197 pics (I need a nap first, though!). Tim France has already sent a few (small) pics, one of which is very nice of us under spi off Seguin Is. ... Mrs. Hans is called Mudl (short for Erdmute). You must let me know some time, what Hans suggested and what you plan to do. Must rush, lunch and a nap are calling me. Best regards,

Uncle Al (W3854)
