the 2006 North American Wayfarer Rally
Thousand Islands, St. Lawrence River,

Bill Harkins went way out onto the rocks at one end to capture the scene.
...

Time to head back to Cedar Point. Getting in to the beach was easy on a run, but getting off upwind will be more of a challenge to our seamanship.
...

Tom has hoisted his sails but will row himself and Nel into deeper water before he starts sailing.
...

Educational stuff: Note the shock cord that can hold the tiller steady while Tom is rowing. And for those of us who like to swim off the boat but have trouble climbing back in, here is a nice little boarding ladder attached to the transom!
...

Being the nice guy that he is, Tom will row out so that ...
...

... Nel won't have to pull in too much anchor rope.
...

Looks like work ...
...

... to me!
...

But it gets the job done! Tom stows the oars adeptly and sails off beside Possum.
...

Back from the beach, Tony pumps the bilges.
...

Tom and Nel relax after a fun beat "home".

This year our annual Rally night out committee of Rosemary France and Mary Asselstine picked O'Brien's Restaurant, and because some sailors had to leave Thursday, we moved the group dinner ahead to Wednesday. And a fine dinner it was, too! (l to r) Tony, Mary, Betty, Dick

Dick Harrington addresses a grateful group. Thanks for all the hard work, Dick!!
A footnote to the evening was that later that evening a nasty rain storm came through just as many of our group returned to camp. Tree branches came down in abundance and at least one team, the Ericksons, had their tent collapse when Diane unzipped the door. They decided a motel room would be a nice place to spend the night - and it was! The Jordans and the Schonborns had gone for a nightcap in the bar end of O'Brien's, and missed the whole mess, though on our way home we did see lots of tree limbs and flashing police lights. We feared the worst as we reached our still very windy camp site but our tents had not only survived but were virtually dry!
