Subject: memories from Cedar Point?

Hi Dick,

Here's my 2 cents on the rally.  It was FABULOUS!!  Thanks so much.

Tom

So many wonderful memories!

  • Driving into the campground was like old-home week.  After seven years of rallies you all have become like family.  Dibs on having the Asselstines and Frances as neighbors next year!
  • The shocking 3 Ship BLASTS!  We quickly learned to keep a sharp lookout.
  • The gust of wind that leveled our tent. Diane had the right idea: motel!  Thanks to Bill, Alan, and Dave for your help.
  • Learning about right of way – sorry, Kit!
  • My great sailing mates – Josh and Brian
  • Thanks Brian for the great discussions and for teaching me about sail shape.
  • The free beers at Tony’s place!
  • The pleasant drink on the waterfront with Dick and Margie.
  • Thanks to Tony for noticing and Dick for loaning a shackle (I’ll replace it). You guys saved my mast (and life??) by noticing the bent shackle atop my forestay.
  • The wonderful meal with Al, Julia, Tony and Mary at the Harbor Inn.
  • Thanks to Krystal for inviting us for S-Mores and for the flowers!
  • Almost going over while smiling for Monique.  It better be a good picture!
  • All the great discussions about politics, life, family with so many of you.

(Al's note: This is the photo op Tom refers to above. I was across the harbour and had to zoom in a lot, and thus missed the best parts as a gust nearly capsized Possum while Tom was smiling for Monique.)

Thanks a million to Dick and Tom for organizing such a wonderful event.  It was the highlight of our summer.

Anticipating next year’s rally,

Tom and Diane Erickson           W275 – Possum

PS.  Someone (Chuck?) had a unique stepladder thingy on their transom.  Would you mind sharing a sketch or picture?
