Registration Notice

North American Rally

Hermit Island, Maine

August 20-27, 2011

Note: We are asking you to register by emailing Dick Harrington at <rmharrington@sbcglobal.net>. A group of 12 choice campsites are being held by Hermit Island Campground for the rally. Coordination for reserving these sites is being handled exclusively by Dick Harrington through the campground manager. The required reservation dates are for the complete week of August 20th – 27th. However, reservation dates can be changed at a later time by following the normal campground procedure.  If you wish to add more days to your stay please indicate this in your Registration e-mail. All persons wishing to reserve one of these campsites should submit their choice to Dick no later than the December 13th. Applications received after December 13th will not be able to take advantage of our group booking of choice sites because we will "return" any unclaimed sites to the manager at that time. Following that some time in January, you will receive a bill in the mail.  You are required to pay an initial deposit (previously this was US $125) with the balance due some time in February.  At this time you can also arrange (by phone) to rent a boat slip in the marina if you wish. The number of slips is limited.

Preparation/Safety: All skippers/helmsmen will be required to sign the following declaration:

I am satisfied that the buoyancy within my boat meets the required standard for a Wayfarer buoyancy certificate.  Further, I have checked, and am satisfied that the boat and all its fittings are seaworthy.  My crew and I will be sailing with adequate weatherproof clothing and personal buoyancy.  I will be fully insured to cover damage to other craft and personal liability.  Whilst I appreciate that every effort will be made to ensure everyone’s safety, I understand that ultimately, I alone am responsible for deciding whether or not my abilities are sufficient to allow me to go or stay out on the water at any given time during this rally.  In matters of safety, I will err on the side of caution, and I recognize that I will be sailing entirely at my own risk.
