Dear Al:

Noted that one campsite became open for the Wayfarer Weekend. If someone wants a site they should start randomly visiting the site.

Dear Uncle Al:

As of March 5, 2013 all Lighthouse sites are booked for the eight days of the rally. A few sites are open for parts of that time, but not all of that time. Anyone wanting a site must
  • look for someone to share with,
  • look at other areas at Killbear, or
  • wait 30 days from Feb. 26  (March 24?) for cancellations.
There may be later cancellations also.  Any one who has a booked site for the Rally should not cancel it, before offering it to Wayfarers who might like to come.

Hello Rally folk,

Ian was able to book 1103 for us, so I have 1193 reserved and paid for from 7/26-8/2 that I can offer up to the group.  I cannot cancel until March 26th, so let me know if anyone is interested in taking this site and we can switch the name on the reservation.

Thanks and look forward to seeing everyone.

..., the trick is to sign on at 7am sharp when registration opens, not at midnight.
1) Login at 6:50am
2) Navigate to the Map page select a site
3) Watch the clock in the top right corner
4) When it hits 7:00:00, click RESERVE
5) Pray :)
They only time midnight works is on the morning of Feb. 29th. At midnight, sites open up for July 29th, 30th and 31st! This is because there is no Feb.,30,31, so several days become available at once.

My 2 cents... excited already!

Steph
N.B. the opening of the reservation window to reservations starting Fri 26 July is 7AM EST on Tues 26 Feb. Have have list of your desired campsites in the Lighthouse Point area prioritized and be ready and on line with your credit card. If your reservation will start on a different date, the window opening moves accordingly, e.g. 27 July > 27 Feb, etc.

Subject: Register tomorrow for Killbear International Rally campsite

It is less than 24 hours to the time to register your campsite at Killbear Park for the July 26 to August 2 Rally.

You can register with Ontario Parks registration service before hand and best to do that now, to speed up your site registration.  With Ontario's new system, previous registration are no longer valid.

Those planning to arrive on Friday July 26, registration opens at 7:00 EST ( Eastern Standard Time) on February 26.  Those planning to arrive on Saturday July 27, registration opens at 7:00 EST ( Eastern Standard Time) on February 27.  Killbear is very popular and sites go fast.

Our boats will be moored on the beach south of the Lighthouse camp ground, so you should look for a site as close as possible to the south beach. (Sites 1101 - 1315)  However, any site in Lighthouse will work.  If no sites at Lighthouse are available, checkout Harold Point as an alternative.

You register with the service and for your site at https://reservations.ontarioparks.com/

Subject: 2013 North American Wayfarer Rally # 14 International Rally # 19 announcement #2

Hi Wayfarer Cruisers:

It is winter here in Ottawa.  The water is hard, that is frozen hard.  However, time to start planning for the North American / International Rally that will take place Friday, July 26 to Friday, August 2 at Killbear Provincial Park near Parry Sound Ontario.  I trust that you have  these dates on your calendar and mark February 26 or 27 as the date to book your campsite.  Reservations for campsites at Ontario parks open at 7:00 am EST 5 months before the first day of the reservation.  Since Killbear is a very popular park and August 3-5 is a long weekend in Ontario, sites will go fast.  Make sure that you are ready to book on February 26 or February 27, if you will not arrive until Saturday. See http://www.ontarioparks.com/english/reservations.html  .  You can register with the system, not the site, ahead of time.  This may help with site registration once sites can be registered on Feb. 26 or 27.

To my North American Wayfarers, please think of how you can help to host our friends from overseas.  With Uncle Al's help we will set up a buddy register on the CWA site.  If you can help with transportation, sharing a camp site or a Wayfarer this will be great.

To my friends from overseas, let us know where we can help you and any special needs.  You may get some travel ideas from http://www.mtc.gov.on.ca/ .

In either case, respond to me or Uncle Al by email.

Let me know of others who wish to be on my mailing list.  If you do not want to receive these notices, let me know.

Al's note: we have been to Killbear in 1995, 2004, 2007 and 2010 - clcik here to get a feel for this lovely place.

Subject: 2013 North American Wayfarer Rally # 14 International Rally # 19 announcement

Hi, Wayfarer Cruisers:

The 2012 sailing season is not finished but it is time to think of 2013, in particular the cursing rally.  This coming year, Canada hosts the Wayfarer Worlds at the Mississauga Sailing Club.  Therefore our North American Rally is also the International Rally.  The Worlds start on Saturday, August 3, so we have set the rally dates of Friday, July 26 to Friday, August 2 at Killbear Provincial Park near Parry Sound Ontario.  Put these dates on your calendar.
In addition, you need to mark February 26 as the date to book your campsite.  Reservations for campsites at Ontario parks open at 7:00 am 5 months before the first day of the reservation.  Since Killbear is a very popular park and August 3-5 is a long weekend in Ontario, sites will go fast.  Make sure that you are ready to book on February 26 or February 27, if you will not arrive until Saturday. See http://www.ontarioparks.com/english/reservations.html

As this is the International Rally, think, too, about how you can help to host our friends from overseas.

This is the first of a number of notices.  Let me know of others who wish to be on my mailing list.  If you do not want to receive these notice, let me know.
