Hi to WISP2017 Participants:

Only 5 days to the start of the rally and still much to do.  Some last minute information that we hope is not too late for your planning.

As per the attached participant list, we have 71 participants broken down into regular sailors (sailing most days), casual sailors (sailing 2 or 3 days) and non-sailors.  There is a good mix of North Americans and Europeans to make for a good time.  With 29 boats, we have enough boats for all sailors.

Not much to report on the sailing front at this time.  We will plan each day’s sail at a 9:00 meeting at campsite Eagle 74.  At this meeting we will make sure that all wishing to sail that day get a chance to sail.  Some new Wayfarer sailors are hoping to sail with experienced sailors, as a way to learn more about sailing a Wayfarer.  Some have rented slips, while others plan to take their boat out each evening.  This could make the boat parking area and ramp a little crowded.

Some more details on the Social activities.  The combined cost of the Sunday Pig Roast, the Monday Sing-a-long and the Tuesday Square Dance evening is $68 US per person ( $58 for Vegetarians). This is made up of the following per person costs - overhead $8; Pig Roast $30; (Vegetarian $20) ; Sing-a-long $10 and Square Dance $20.  Please pay Tom Goldsmith in cash at the Sunday Pig Roast.   Combined with the Sing-a-long will be our black tie event.  This is when we use what we find around our campsites to spoof the yachting set. You can get some ideas from earlier rally pictures.

Here are some details of these events:

Sunday - Pig Roast and Hula Dancing 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the pavilion:

Food provided: pork, side dishes, salad, dessert, beer and soda.  Bring your own wine.

Monday - Sing-a-long 8:00 to 10:00 PM at campsite 74, bring your musical instruments:

Food provided; cheese and olive trays, beer and soda. Wayfarer song sheet attached.

Tuesday Square Dance 7:00 to 10:00 PM at the pavilion.

Food provided: chicken skewers, beef skewers, roasted veg skewers, rice, beer and soda.

On Thursday evening we will have a rally dinner at the Thousand Island Club. This dinner will be paid for by each individual participant as food orders will be individual.  Details and menu will be provided at morning meets plus a signup sheet.

Rally vests for those who ordered them will be available on Sunday at a cost of $28 US.

See you in a few days,

WISP2017 Committee
