(borrowed from USWA site 2021.09.19)  Marc Bennett and Julie Seraphinoff in W11339 head for the finish in Sunday, Sept. 12 sailing on Tawas Bay, East Tawas, MI. The fleet of six boats got in four races Sunday after being blown out on the Saturday. While the regatta was meant to be the Wayfarer North Americans but that was not to be, since COVID 19 won out once again, keeping our friends in Canada from crossing into the U.S. As usual, members of the Tawas Bay Yacht Club were wonderful hosts and gave us four solid races, as well as helping to make a safe decision for Saturday racing. Preliminary report from Uncle Al:

Team Bennett Shines with Perfect Record at Tawas

Lansing's Marc Bennett and Julie Seraphinoff christened their new red Wayfarer with a string of four firsts in an all-American six-boat fleet at Tawas  Bay YC Sept. 11-12. The event had been intended to be our North Americans but became an ordinary regatta when Covid put an end to that as the U.S. border remains closed to Canadian sailors. High winds forced abandonment of Saturday's racing before a classic Tawas Bay light-air day (above) enabled the no-nonsense Committee to squeeze in four Sunday races.

Sisters Peggy Menzies (Michigan) and Kathy Sanville (Wisconsin) piloted Blew By You to a solid runner-up finish (2-2-3-2) two points ahead of Richard Johnson and wife, Michele Parish, who brought their new Wayfarer Fetch all the way from Oriental, North Carolina, and racked up 3-3-2-3 finishes to take Bronze (so to speak).

Series 4th went to southern Michigan's Dave McCreedy who sailed his recently acquired wooden Wayfarer (911) with Dave Wilpula to a 4-5-4-5 record. Robert Mosher's Hartley Wayfarer Cruiser made its racing debut with DNF-4-5-4 placings as the Lansing sailor teamed up with Lisa Bills for a 5th overall.

Another storied wooden Wayfarer carried the Michigan SC's team of Matt Dailey and Nick Burtka. W1028 was the long-time face of Earl Schnur whose Wayfarer presence goes back all the way to the early 1970s.

Official report follows in the upcoming SKIMMER.
