On this breezy morning,
even the jib is not really needed. ........ |
A fine lesson in docking
coming up here. Marc has chosen the leeward side of the dock as
recommended, and now needs to watch for odd winds as he ... ........ |
... passes the lee of
the dock. Marc could now come alongside this part of the dock and be
head to wind. If necessary he can just luff up alongside the dock until
his speed bleeds off enough that Tom can just reach out and grab the
dock - always watching for resident snakes!!
........ |
A bit more challenging
and sometimes necessary - if boats hang between you and haul-out for
instance - is the approach at right angles to the dock. As can be seen
by Marc's wake here, he has kept just enough speed on to maintain
steerage way. He has also come in close enough that if needed, Tom can
grab the moored boat to guide them the rest of the way to the dock.
........ |
Now Tom can just step off
with the painter or toss it to the helpful welcoming committee on the
dock. ........ |
The newest W team: Tom
Hankard (r) has agreed to crew for Mike Murto. ........ |
Just making a brief stop to
pick up their new Mike Mac sails were Steph Romaniuk and Sue Pilling (fresh from her knee operation). ........ |

The trailer design is a
modified version of the Hartley double-trailer, designed to accommodate
two combi-trailers. The trolley/dolly wheels have to be removed for double-trailer transport, however (above and below). ........ |
