Warm Water/Canadian Nats Conestoga SC * June 8-9, 2019 |
Two
firsts with one stroke for North Bay Wayfarer duo
(190612) It was a double whammy for the North
Bay duo of Dave Hansman and Dave Richardson this weekend
at the Conestoga SC where they scored a resounding win in
the annual Warm Water regatta which this year also doubled
as our Canadian Nationals. All nine races were sailed in
gusty, shifty hiking breezes. This is the team's first win
in both our Nationals and the Warm Water. Complete results

Conestoga SC * July 7-8, 2019 a look back at the July 7-8 Carling Trophy Regatta won by the Pughs (190916)
The 2019 Carling Trophy was moved
from being its usual part of the Warm Water Regatta
because that event was this year's Canadian
Nationals. A very well matched fleet of seven
Wayfarers took part, so well matched that there were
ties for first, third and fifth place overall -
results here.
Oakville's David and Anne Pugh won this year's
Carling in a tie-breaker with the all-female
Michigan team of Peggy Menzies and Kai Nolan. The
3rd-place tie-breaker went to Conestoga's Leo Van
Kampen and wife, Joanne ahead of Mike Duncan and
wife, Marg from the Mississauga SC. In series 5th,
the tie-breaker produced another tie, this one
between two more Conestoga teams: When the
tie-breaker placed Jan d'Ailly and wife, Alannah,
5th ahead of Scott Ramsay and Les Sherratt, both
teams ended up beating their seed by one place and
thus shared the event's Most Improved
status. More pics here.

While you're at it, what were winds and weather like? How many races Saturday? Cheers, Uncle Al W3854 From: Mike & Darlene Codd W421/4600 [mailto:manddcodd@rogers.com] Sent: Monday, September 16, 2019 10:27 PM Kirk and myself sailed all the races on Saturday. 2? Light winds. Not memorable! After dinner, at the club, we went back to Leo's for the night. After several hours of discussions, Jo said that she had a wedding to go to on Sunday. Kirk was not feeling well so it was decided that I would sail with Leo on Sunday. Sunday was generally windy but had almost calm spots, mainly near shore north of the club near the leeward mark. The winds were generally quite shifty. Course was 3 marks in the club side of the lake. If I remember right, triangle, windward, leeward, 1/2 leg to finish. I crewed, Leo helmed, I think he learned a lot, at least that is what I told Kirk after he won the N.A. ;>) Send me the results and I will see if anything jogs my memory. See you on weekend, will talk to Kirk as he watched all day Sunday. Also, He packed up Red Top that Sunday , left on the dock, so we were ready to leave. Nice guy! A wonderful crew! Mike |
