2021.08.14 What a pleasure it was to see
our gang "live" once more Aug. 7-8 at the Toronto
Sailing & Canoe Club where 11 teams enjoyed our 2021
Nationals. No U.S. teams since the border was still
COVID-closed. The 6-race (toe Saturady, four Sunday)
light-air series was closely contested among
all 11 entries until our new champions, Sue Pilling and
Steph Romaniuk won the last three races to pull away to
a well deserved win. Congratulations, Sue and Steph!!  Both days were warm and largely bright if not sunny although Saturday's racing was brought to an quick end ten minutes into race 3 when thunder and lightning approached. Thanks to our safety and RC boats who provided us with a relaxing tow back to the club from the mouth of the Humber River where our racing was being held to accommodate a keelboat regatta out of Nationals.  As we lounged and dined outdoors at the club after Saturday's racing, the number of realistic contenders in our fleet had been reduced to four, three of whom were in a tie for the lead: John Cawthorne (1-3), Sue Pilling (2-2) and Heider Funck (3-1).
