The Mississauga SC Wayfarer/CL Regatta
Race 6.2
by Gord Leachman & Alan Hallwood

Gary and John start their hoist procedure, while ...
...

... Stuart wrestles with the challenge of trying to get his jib winged.
Down to leeward, Al is not exactly off to a flying start on this run, either.
...

Sam and Rob ...
...

... make a belated appearance on ...
...

... coming along on the port lay line.
...

Good trim, so something else must be wrong.
...

An exciting tack around the mark for Colin and Heather as they ...
...

... begin their run.
...

A lovely set but Colin has just noticed that bit of backwind in the main. Anyway, they have better wind than ...
...

... those of us about to pass the closed start line: (l to r) Rod, Al, Gary, Stuart

... despite a backwinded main (tsk! tsk!) regain contact with the three leaders who have really bunched up.
...

Al (l) keeps a close eye on the proceedings just in front of him: Mark (7673) has taken the lead and in this instance is wise to hold the spinnaker as long as he can in order to make sure he kills of any overlap aspirations Kit (2nd from right) might have.

any manoeuvering possibilities that may present themselves.
...

(l to r) Stuart, Rod, Gary
...

Al has managed to get inside Geoff who approached the mark very wide.
But, eek, what's this? Goddammit, the sheet's under the bow. Colin quickly retrieves and Al ...
...

... fends off the boom to let Colin back into the cockpit, and at the same time shows a whole new dimension to the word "blanket" to poor Geoff (r). Kit, meanwhile, who had almost managed to break through to leeward of Mark in the previous picture, has fallen just short and is now getting seriously "gassed".
...

Despite a rather mangled rounding, Al (3854) has left Geoff sitting at the mark
and has caught up on Kit who has taken boat speed to an inexplicably new low in the last half-minute or so.
...

A lovely puff speeds (l to r) Stuart, Gary and Rod towards the leeward mark.
...

Tense faces as a crowded rounding looms.
...

The hard work begins.
