A fine indicator of a well set line: the fleet is well spread out up and down the line.

This would turn out to be our only race of the day.

A nice start for Richard and Mark in 10423 - if he can fight off Peter and Alex (286).

Coming in a bit late at the boat end is Butch Minson ...

PRO Dave Williams (blue jacket) has little time to be pleased: the big MC fleet is next up.

(l to r) John de Boer, Richard Johnson, Frank Goulay, Al Schonborn
For Frank and Al, strategic life had become simplified: Being tied for the series lead and having a relatively comfortable three-point cushion, they had to sail to beat each other. Uncle Al and Nick especially felt pressure to beat Frank and Andrew who had slaughtered them in the previous two races on Friday. Here, Al (3854) has lucked into a big starboard knock after a pin end start. A quick tack to port has left him in the enviable position of being to windward and ahead of Frank (864) now that Al has forced himself to foot off (see photo above) for extra speed.

James McIntyre and Jim McIntyre (1629) are sailing back towards the rhumb line after tacking to port shortly after starting.
They will cross Frank and Andrew who are on port anyway.

It's back to port tack for Jim and James.
...

Likewise for Richard Watterson and Mark Nye who have tacked into a lovely puff.
...

As have ...

... Peter Rahn and Alex.
...

Looks like a port-tack knock here for Mike Murto and Izak Kielmovitch (2959).
...

Mike has to watch out that John de Boer to windward does not sail over his wind, but even more important,
Mike is checking for starboard boats, a definite likelihood in this port-tack knock!
...

Aboard the Chick'n, Michele Parish is also keeping a good look-out.
...

If necessary, Mike and Izak can even reef!!!!!
...

Mike and Izak both concentrate seriously in their own way.
