Still not long after the race 5 start; another 2½ course.

Hull speed weather on the first run where a spinnaker can be of little help unless it makes for planing,
since both boats are limited to (the same) hull speed controlled by the design of the hull.
...

Here Uncle Al (spi) and Tom (no spi) are threading their way through ...
...

... the ubiquitous MCs. (Hah! I have always wanted to use that word which I believe means "to be found everywhere".)

lunch time!

Home is the sailor from the sea ... er, the paddle-boater from the lake?
...

Richard's boat offers kayak and paddle-boat mode. Pretty neat!!
...

I'll bet you could find a place to safely ensconce at beer or two?
...

Returning for the lunch break are Al and Tony with yet another win under their belts (PFDs???)
Note that the weather was actually comfortably warm enough for Al not to wear his "wet" jacket.
...

Thinking ahead, Al and Tony decide on a jib alone approach to the beach which is a lee shore.
...

Returning after placing a most impressive 2nd are ...
...

... Tom McNally with Mike Tighe. Also looking very good were the Bests who piloted US911 to a solid 3rd.
And behind them is a horde of MCs all rushing to get into the lunch line???  - click here for larger image
...

And now, under jib alone, it's a nice dawdle for Tony and Al who doubtless
are each nursing a discreetly hidden, resealable bottle of Grolsch beer.
...

Tom and Mike will be rewarded for their fast finish with a spot at the dock that is briefly nearly empty before the MCs come back.
...

Land ho - and nasty-looking weather to the north-west!!
...

A reverse haul-out should leave SHADES head to the nasty wind that looks to be imminent.
...

Even with slot closure strips installed, Al tries to avoid beaching such that the centreboard is right where the wave(let)s are breaking, having missed an afternoon's racing in the 1973 North Americans off Lake St. Clair's Metro Beach when sand got washed into Al's CB trunk and made the board impossible to lower until the sand was hosed out!! And note the nice empty dock available to Tom and Mike (for the moment!)
...

Two more firsts! It has been a good morning's "work" for Tony (l) and Al, the barefoot boys.
...

The king of Wayfarer fashion!!
