.....
While PRO, Jake Starr, checks the agenda, Commodore Kozak, congratulates another of our youngest crews, Chris Pedersen.
.....
The top husband/wife team in the North Americans, John and Dolores deBoer, who placed a fine 7th!
.....
It was also great to have as our honoured guests and fellow competitors, one of the top 470 teams in Canada, Alan Laderoute and Ryan Mahaffey (r). Ryan and Alan borrowed W7380 Unplugged from Conestoga's Al Nichols while the latter made his annual crewing appearance with Dwight Aplevich aboard Eclairelle.
.....
And in a tie for 10th place, we have: George Blanchard and Dennis Platt.
A really incredible feat for our 86-year-old George who spent all week fixing boats and stuff at TSCC
to make sure everything was a go for the North Americans, the spent two days out racing in conditions
that would tax the resources of a fit young man in his prime, and then he still looks this good at the awards ceremony.
You're a real inspiration to us all, George! Thanks!!!
.....
(left) And in a tie for 10th with George, we have a team that beat their seed of 17th out of 20, by an amazing 7 places: CWA Membership Secretary, Kit Wallace, and his fine crew, Marcel Plug!
(right) In 9th place - an improvement of 4 places over their seed - we have Peter Ayres and his son, Jonathan.
.....
(left) 8th overall and looking ecstatic that they made it back to shore alive, Hans Gottschling with Scott Moddle (r)
(right) Taking a super 6th overall were Roger Shepherd and his son, Carl, who was not at all intimidated by the winds and waves but does look a bit nervous here as the disembodied hand comes ever closer...
.....
(left)  In 5th place - a bit of a come-down after their impressive U.S. Nationals win last weekend - were our terrors from Bainsville, Ontario, Peter Rahn and his son, Alex.
(right) Ryan Mahaffey and Alan Laderoute made their first Wayfarer event an impressive one, placing 4th!
.....
Perhaps the best performance ever in the Most Improved department was turned in by TSCC's Keith Haill and Samantha Hodder (who were also Most Improved at this year's Canadian Nationals). After quietly practising in every TSCC club race all summer, Sam and Keith, were at or near the top of the fleet for all of every race on their way to a terrific 3rd overall!!
Congratulations, Keith and Sam!!!
.....
(left) The 2000 Canadian Wayfarer champions, Heider Funck (l) and Tom Wharton, sailed their usual outstanding series as they ended up counting 2-2-1-2-1, good enough to win most series. But this year, they lost out to a very determined team of
(right) Al Schönborn (green MoJos shirt from the Midwinters) and Wayfarer Man, Frank Goulay, whose spi gybe excellence moved SHADES into a lead she would not give up on a number of occasions as she placed 1-1-1-2-1!
