Geoff and George have 9483
pointing very well while Thomas Vendely with new crew, David Hansman,
appear to be knocked - or a bit undersheeted on the main. Also looking
good here is David Platt in 7218.

A model of keeping the boat
flat as Paul and Alan approach the RC boat on port. .. |
Until Alan takes time out to
communicate something to the RC. .. |
Both David Hansman (foreground)
and Thomas Vendely demonstrate fine hiking technique as they keep 9658
driving through a lovely puff. .. |
What a handsome team! .. |
Also giving the RC boat a close
shave are the father and son team of Alan and Stephen Hallwood. While
the physiques are great, the sail trim could improve: the outhaul looks
a bit loose and the main is undersheeted for going upwind in these
conditions - of course, they may be bearing off to avoid hitting the RC
boat??

The close racing continues as
the fleet passes the RC boat on their way to the windward mark: (l
to r) Thomas Vendely, Nick Seraphinoff, Uncle Al, Kit Wallace and
David Platt. .. |
Nick and Marc have 864 trimmed
just right for the increasing winds - except that their slot seems a
bit open. David and Peter could convert more of this lovely breeze into
motive power by hiking - it also appears that their jib lead could
stand to be further aft from the bulge in the foot of the jib when the
slot is perfect.

Not a single tack screwed up on
the entire tack-filled second beat, and Frank and Al breeze onto the
final run ... .. |
... with a lovely lead over
Heider and Tom. Having put some of their lead into the starboard gybe
... .. |
... Al and Frank gybe to cover
Heider (6) by staying in front of and closer to the rhumbline than
Heider. Nick and Marc (r) meanwhile have completed a fine
second beat in 3rd place while Ivan and Chris Pedersen (7350) have also
gained nicely.
