Mon 2 July: Don Rumble Memorial Series
post-race - 2
photos by Andy Douma

Anne McNutt, daughter of the late Don Rumble, comes up to help present for the Don Rumble Memorial series.
...

A participation pennant and boat wax for our rookies, Andy Douma and Joan,
to help them escape last place next time!
...

Aha! Bernie Tempelman Plat, the AWOL sailor, has returned to stand by his skipper, Henry.
...

Dave Richardson and Kim Rainville placed 13th, just one point behind ...
...

... Ross and Breanne Jamieson.
...

With crew, Jason Hassard likely outside having a smoke, Lori is left alone to be recognized
as the 11th-place finisher after losing a tie-breaker to ...
...

... Michael Kachkovsky and Pat Onions.
...
It was a nifty ninth for Geoff Edwards and Jason Orton.
...

8th place went to Thunder Bay's Andrew Haill and London's Michele Dicker.
...
Congratulations to Fred Black and John Simmonds who took 7th overall and were
the 2007 Don Rumble's Most Improved.
...

Series 6th and only one point away from making the top 5 were Maryland's Tony Krauss and Mary Abel.
...

That 5th place went to Sue Pilling and Steph Romaniuk
who did a marvellous job sailing Mystic W4677, one of the club boats.
...

Dave and Carol Hansman had to make do with series 4th
after they were overtaken near the end of the last race by ...
...

... John and Dolores de Boer who thus took series 3rd.
...

Wayfarer watch caps for this year's runners-up, Dwight and Pat Aplevich.
...

Anne McNutt was eager to present the Don Rumble Memorial Trophy to Al and Marc, but a red-faced Al had to ...
...

... confess that he had forgotten that trophy at home. Al then went on to thank the North Bay YC and their many volunteers for making North Bay one of our best weekends of the year for us once more in 2007! And of course, the biggest thank you of all was earned by ...
...

... Dave and Carol Hansman who have done more than anyone to revive
our North Bay event which in 2008 will be our Nationals!!
...

Steph Romaniuk with his new Wayfarer watch cap
...

While the crabby crew is off getting us some refreshments ...
...

... his helm gets a lovely hug from the hostess!!
...

A big thank you from Dave to our mark layer, Trevor Hughes
...

"Furthest travelled" may well have been a tie between
Tony and Mary (North East, Maryland) and Andrew Haill (Thunder Bay)
...

Later: Those sticking around for Tuesday's Poker Race on Trout Lake, finished off the Monday at Mexicali Rosa's where (above) Andy Douma and Dave Hansman (holding El Presidente) toasted a fine Wayfarer Weekend.
...

After five hard-fought races ...
...

... we were most certainly ...
...

... ready ...
...

... and eager to ...
...

... drink and eat.
...

But not until Marc (l) and Al have uploaded the photos
from the Wayfarer class camera onto Dave Hansman's computer.
