(l to r) Frank, Marc, Dave and Al are nearly ...
...

... half-way down the run (note start mark off Al's bow).
...

Here's how Stuart saw us from the RC boat. Staying low (and to the left!!) like Al (3854) is doing takes real mental toughness.
The boats to windward almost always look like they're doing better or getting more wind up there!!
...

Looking at right angles to the rhumb line, we get the most realistic appraisal of how things stand.
...

Mike and Bill (398) battle with Sue and Steph as they approach the RC boat and the midway point of the run.
...

Can Sue really be surfing?? Just a little??
...

Frank and Marc (864) have gybed back towards the rhumb line. Frank sails high to grab the left (inside at the mark).
...

Al (l) gybes in preparation for the rounding. Marc (864) has waffled too long: As soon as Frank gybed to port out there, Marc - realizing they were on a collision course - needed to establish contingency plans. Here, Marc should have acted decisively: either decide to vigorously defend the left (inside for room), or goose it across Frank's transom and try to break the overlap before reaching the mark.
...

Another early douse for Al and Angus (3854), while Frank (648) maintains the all-important left-side edge (starboard and buoy room when the time comes). Marc (864) is doing what he can to pass Frank: While Julie very gently removes the pole without disturbing the chute, Marc keeps it flying to perfection. Closer to the camera, Sue has the left-side edge on Mike, if she should need it.
...

Backing it up a bit, we looked quite different from Julia's beach angle.
Here we can see how radically high of the mark Frank is sailing (Al is aiming straight at it!)
...

An exemplary douse by Angus!
...

Back to the Stuart view and the start of the final beat: Al and Angus lead comfortably.
Sue, alas, is not 2nd: a further look reveals ...
...

... other boats already at the mark: (l to r) Frank will round inside of Marc and Dave.
It'll be close among Sue, Mike (398) and Andrew (3140) as we can see ...
...

... here.
...

The start of the final beat, part 2: Chasing Al are (l to r) Frank, Marc,
Dave (tacking for clear air), Andrew, Sue rounding with verve inside of Mike.

...
Andy and Erika have nothing to make them nervous.
...

Andrew and Lori round onto the final beat to the finish. Meanwhile Dave (282) and Marc (864) have tacked in search of better things.
...

Frank (red hull) has to cover these two (his nearest pursuers) to make sure he finishes no worse than 2nd,
in which case he and Kim will end up tied for the Ontario Championship with Al and Angus.
